Alene
Stokes, 83, of Boise, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012, in a local
care center. Alene was born on July 29, 1928, in Weiser, Idaho, to Virgil
Hubert Battershell and Mary Emma Warfield Battershell. She graduated from
Midvale High School in 1946. Alene married James Darrel Stokes, on April 6,
1947, in Midvale. Alene and Darrel moved to Boise, where they lived until 1978
when business relocated them to Vancouver, WA. Upon retirement, they moved back
to Boise to be closer to family. She was a devoted wife and mother, and gave
everything to her family. She had a deep inner faith in The Lord, and fought
her illness with courageous strength and love for God and her family. She was
truly a kind and beautiful person and will be greatly missed.
Alene was
preceded in death by her husband Darrel Stokes in 1995. She is survived by her
children, Larry Stokes (Cindy Stokes), of Boise, Kathy Milliron (Rick Milliron)
of Eagle, and Dr. Karen Stokes (John Fahrer) of Portland, OR; grandchildren,
Eric Milliron of Nampa, Erin Miller of Portland, OR, Bradley Stokes of Moscow,
ID, and Bryan Stokes, of Boise; and her brother Virgil Verlin Battershell of
Elk Grove, CA.
A graveside
service will be held at the Eastside Cemetery, in Midvale, Idaho, at 1:00 p.m.,
on Thursday February 23, 2012. Arrangements are under the direction of
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
