Alexander McKellar, Jr.

1927 - 2013

Alexander McKellar, Jr. was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 21, 1927 and live for many years in Greenwich, Connecticut.

He was a graduate of Long Island University and served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.  He was proud that part of his service was aboard the U.S.S. Boise.

After a long and successful career in the insurance industry, Alec retired to Boise, Idaho in 1990.  He loved his home and friends in Boise and was happy to be called "Idaho Al".

Alec was a Rotarian, a Mason and a member of the Navy League and the American Legion.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann.  He had three daughters and five grandchildren, and one great grandson.

He passed peacefully from his joy-filled life on November  2, 2013.


Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel and Crematory.  Alec's request was to be cremated and then to be scattered at sea by the United States Navy, which will be provided by the Naval Medical Center, San Diego, Ca.
