Alvin A. Allen, age 76, of Meridian Idaho, passed away on
March 18, 2014 in Indio, California after a hard fought battle with COPD.
Al was born March 14, 1938 to Arlen and Myrl Allen in Twin
Falls, Idaho.
He was raised and spent his school years in Hagerman and
Buhl, Idaho.
He then joined the United
States Army in 1960, serving honorably and proudly for 2 years.
Al then began his career in law enforcement in Nyssa, Oregon,
where he was the Chief of Police. He also attended the FBI National Academy.
While he was in Nyssa, he married Ruth Burbank and they had
his two children, daughter Alisa and son Brent. He and Ruth later divorced.
In September of 1978, he married his forever girl, Betty
Jean. They lived in Stayton, Oregon, where Alvin held the position of the Chief
of Police. He then concluded his career as Undersheriff for Marion County,
Salem, Oregon.
Through these years, Al cultivated friendships that are very
special and will never be forgotten. He touched people and people touched
him.
He loved Betty, his family and
friends, God and his Country. He loved watching the grandchildren grow and was supporting
of their activities, always.
Then he
loved…Golf, Old cars, sports…Go Cardinals! Boise State Broncos!
Alvin is survived by his loving wife Betty, his children and
extended family.
A celebration of this wonderful life will be held Friday,
March 28, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Alden-Waggoner
Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave.,
Boise, Idaho, followed by a short committal
service at the
Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 p.m..
Memorials may be made in Alvin’s name to the association
which was special to him,
“The Wounded Warrior Project”.
