Arlene Castle Williams Stevens died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at her home in Caldwell, Idaho. She was born September 8, 1933 at home in North Redwood, Minnesota. She was the youngest of twelve children born to Fay C. Castle and Hattie Taubert Castle. She attended the first eight grades of school in a two room schoolhouse in North Redwood. She graduated from 12th grade at Redwood Falls High School in 1951.

Arlene worked in the Montgomery Ward office during and after high school. After graduating she was transferred to Aberdeen, S.D. in September of 1955 where she was District Secretary until March of 1958. She then became Office Manager for Brown County Co-op in Aberdeen, until moving to Idaho in anticipation of her marriage to Roy W. Williams, a native of Midvale, Idaho. They married in August of 1966. They lived in Council, Idaho for a short time while Roy was a teacher and counselor in the high school there before he was hospitalized with pneumonia and complications of Hodgkin's disease. Roy passed away the following February at the VA hospital in Boise.


Arlene was married to Lauren C. Stevens of Boise in December of 1967 at Winnemucca, NV.
She then was employed by Hillcrest Country Club in Boise from December 1966 until 1977, when they moved to Caldwell where they owned and operated a coin-op laundry and Lauren opened his own upholstery shop - TLC Upholstery.


Arlene was a member of a non-denominational church.


She is survived by her husband, Lauren Stevens of Caldwell, three step-children, Cynthia (Stan) Durfee of Portland, OR, Vicki (Arthur) Clark of Weiser, ID, and Mark (Teri) Stevens of Kennewick, WA; three sisters, Helen VanSlooten, Esther Howton, and Cheryl Prescott, all of Redwood Falls, MN; a brother, Kenneth Castle of Redwood Falls, MN; nine grandchildren; three and a half great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.


In addition to her first husband, Roy Williams; Arlene is preceded in death by her mother and father, five brothers, and four sisters.


Arlene's family suggests memorials be made to MSTI, 100 E. Idaho, Boise, ID 83712.


A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave., Boise. Burial will follow at Joplin Cemetery. A viewing will be held and her family will greet friends on Thursday, March 1, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
