Arlene
Thelma Lidenberg was born April 16, 1932 in Northwood, ND where she
grew
up and attended school.
On June 17, 1951
Arlene was married to Marvin
Johnson
and they lived in Northwood until their move to Boise, Idaho in 1996.
While
living in Northwood, Arlene was an active member of the community and
church.
She enjoyed working as a cook at the Northwood Schools for many years. Arlene
loved baking and especially making donuts and cookies for her friends and family.
She also made great buns and lefsa which she
shared with everyone. Arlene loved to entertain and often had guests for meals
and holidays.
She also loved to garden,
especially flowers, and always left them uncut so others could enjoy them while
walking past their home.
Marvin
and Arlene enjoyed 7 years in Boise prior to Marvin’s death.
Arlene
subsequently
moved into an apartment at Samaritan Village Apartments and became involved in
that community and in her church. She met many new people whose friendship she
cherished.
This
past year, Arlene spent Thanksgiving with her family in Scottsdale, AZ and
Christmas with her family in Minneapolis, including her four great grandchildren.
After a short illness diagnosed upon her
return to Boise, Arlene passed away on January 28, 2020 at the Samaritan
Nursing Center.
Her family wishes to
extend a special thank you to all her caregivers, the Good Samaritan Nursing
Center, hospice and St. Luke’s Hospital.
She was loved by many for her warmth, compassion, and sense of humor.
She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Arlene
is survived by three sons:
Micheal
(Susan) Cross Lake, Minnesota; Garry (Nancy) Columbia Heights, Minnesota; and
Gail (Karen) Scottsdale, Arizona.
She is
also survived by four granddaughters:
Lindsey (Lee), Andrea (Clint), Kayla and Amy and four
great-grandchildren: Roland, Parker, Sophie and Archer.
Also surviving is one sister, Florence Kleven,
Seattle, Washington and many nieces and nephews.
Arlene
was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, two infant sons, parents
Theodore
and Ida Lidenberg, and siblings Gilman, Alvin, Marion, Orville, Ernest, Evelyn
and Melvin.
Services were held on Tuesday,
February 4
th
, at the Samaritan Village Apartments in Boise, ID.
