August 2, 1930 ~ April 5, 2017
On April 5, 2017 our mother, grandmother and nana died with
her daughters at her side. She was a
strong woman who struggled for a long time with Alzheimer’s. She will truly be missed by all her family.
Barbara was born to Bird Briggs, Jr. and Carrie Myrtle
(Jennings) Bliss. She has two siblings
William Briggs Bliss and Betty Jo (Bliss) Clark.
Barbara married James Franklin Boggs on August 29,
1948. While making their home in Boise,
Barbara started a family of five children, Melinda, Tom, David, Debbie, and
Tim. They then embarked on a military
career. During this time they moved
frequently. They lived in Fort Lewis,
WA, Lewistown, MT, Butzbach, Germany, Fort Benning, Georgia and Schofield,
Hawaii. Mom became very efficient in
tending to her home and children while she was a military wife. They moved back to Boise in 1974. As empty nesters mom went back to work at the
Bazaar Department store. Once she was
retired she was then able to fully enjoy her flower gardens, reading, pets and
especially family time. Mom loved going
on picnics, camping, playing her organ and being a grandmother and
great-grandmother. She took many trips
with her daughters and their families as well as her grandchildren in Hawaii.
Barbara was proud of all her Boise native children, Melinda
(Boggs) Williams Smith, Thomas James Boggs, David Terry Boggs, Debbie (Boggs)
Leonard, Tim Brian Boggs; grandchildren, Curtis Williams (Chrystal) and Monica
Williams Miller (Bret), Shauna (Boggs) Anau`i (Ob) and Jessie Boggs;
step-grandchildren, Patrick Leonard and Mandy Dauphanais; greatgrandchildren,
Ella and Paisley Miller, Taimanu, Ifo, and Matalassi Anau`i, Forest and Dylon
Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sons.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday,
April 13, 2017 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel in Boise followed by a 3:00
p.m. committal service at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery ending with a
