Benita I. Yunek
Born to Mr. Glenn Banks and Mrs. Ethel (Schoonmaker) Banks
in Irene, Illinois on July 2, 1934.
Married to William S. Yunek on January 20, 1956 in Cherry
Valley Methodist Church in Cherry Valley, Illinois.
Her husband was in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in
Darmstadt, W. Germany, came home to be married, returned to Darmstadt, where
she followed him, and they lived for 1 and1/2 years before he was discharged
from the Air Force.
She was a registered nurse and enjoyed her roles as daughter,
sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her dear husband, “Bill” of nearly 62
years, 3 children, son Bradley (Susan) of Sandpoint, ID, daughter Brenda
(Perry) Jansen of Meridian, Idaho and son Brent (Suzette) of Lake
Forest, California, brothers Lester (Jean) Banks of Sheridan, Illinois and
Dwight (Teri) Banks of Ottawa, Illinois, 7 living grandchildren – Nathaniel,
Erin, and Olivia Jansen, Heather and Joshua Yunek, and Carlton and Lucy Yunek,
a great grandson Elias Jansen, and many living nieces and nephews and extended
family.
Preceded in death by her parents – Ethel and Glenn Banks,
both sets of grandparents – Mr. and Mrs. Ray Schoonmaker, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Banks, brother Stanley Banks, and granddaughter, Mallory Lynn Jansen, and
several aunts and uncles.
She was actively affiliated with North Country Chapel, Post
Falls, ID, and was a member of the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter CL, Coeur d’Alene,
ID.
Music has been an important part of her life – playing
piano, organ, and accordion
to the glory of God!
