Bernadine Alexander left us on July 13, 2016 at the age of 86. She was born in Missoula, Montana on March 1, 1930 to Everett Bradford and Dorothy Grace MacGregor Bradford.
Her parents divorced when she was quite young and she and her older brother, Vernon, moved to the Oregon Coast with their Dad. They came to Boise in 1944 due to WWII to get away from the coast. She has lived in Boise ever since.
Bernadine married Jim Alexander in 1948 and they had three children together. Jim passed away in 2007 and she and her son Jim maintained the family home until her death.
Bernadine was an avid Boise State Bronco fan and has cheered the Broncos on since 1966. She has a “Bronco Rock” in the planter in front of her house. The BSU Broncos were Her Team and she didn’t let anyone forget it with football being her passion. However, she also cheered on the basketball teams, tennis teams, etc. She was very passionate about all things Bronco.
Bernadine was also an avid bowler and bowled in several leagues through the years. She felt her greatest bowling accomplishment was obtaining the Gutter Gussie patch and the opportunity to join the GG club!
Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, July 18th at 1pm at Dry Creek Cemetery.
Bernadine is survived by her brother, Vernon Bradford; her son Jim Alexander, Jr; her daughter Jan and son in law Jessie Hall. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Cindy Crain, Rosie Harmon, Robyn Hall, Jesse Hall, Jr and 9 great grandchildren. Family is suggesting memorials to Mountain States Tumor Institute or the Juvenile Diabetes Fund in lieu of flowers.
The family would also like to thank the outstanding staff at the Garden at Valley View Skilled Nursing and Rehab who helped make mom’s last days comfortable. We would also like to thank Dr. David Nielsen and staff for their wonderful care and kindness.
