Bessie M. Kacena, 92, of Boise, died Friday, August 26, 2011, in a Boise hospital.
Bessie was born on November 18, 1918, in Lamoni, Iowa, to Lennie Hortense and Hanna Ann Jackson Moyers. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from High School there. On June 15, 1941 she married William Joseph Kacena, Jr. He passed away on July 21, 1997 and Bessie moved to Boise in 1999.
Bessie was a homemaker who was devoted to her family. She loved to sew and do crafts. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and was in several different bridge groups.
She was a member of the King’s Daughters in Des Moines and the Northgate Senior Village in Boise.
Survivors include three children, William Kacena and his wife, Mavis Kacena, Denver, CO, Patricia Gibson and her husband, Brian, El Segundo, CA, and Marilyn Koob and her husband, Mike, Boise, ID; six grandchildren, Melissa Kacena, Douglas Kacena, John Gibson, Katie Gibson, Mark Koob and Matthew Koob; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Kacena, Jr.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, 270 S. Orchard, #B, Boise, Idaho 83705.
Cremation services are under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel and Crematory. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Colorado.
