Betty Jo Huff, 86, of Boise, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at home of natural causes.

Betty was born December 29, 1927, in Tulsa, OK, the daughter of Paul Davis and Marjorie Anita Kaufman Barrett. Betty married Kenneth Robert “Bob” Huff in Kansas City, MO, in 1965. They lived in several cities including Kansas City, MO, Oklahoma City, OK, and Los Altos Hills, CA, before settling in Boise. They have been Boise residents for 41 years.

Ask any of Betty’s friends and they will tell you how deeply she loved her family and always put their needs before her own. Betty enjoyed many hobbies including golf and crafting. She was also an avid quilter and seamstress. She made over 90 quilts that she generously gave to family and friends.

While in college at Wichita State University, Betty joined a sorority, Alpha Tau Sigma, and she remained a lifelong member. She was a member of the Crane Creek Country Club, the Assistance League of Boise, Idaho Community Foundation, the St. Al’s Auxiliary, and Desert Horizons Country Club in Indian Wells, CA.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Huff; her three daughters and their husbands, Darcia and Dave Furney, Sheri and Scott Thorp, Pam and Bob Barnhart; her grandsons, Scotty and wife Danielle Thorp; Nathan Douglas, Zach Barnhart, Shane Thorp, Parker Barnhart; and great grandson, Chase Thorp.

Betty is survived by sister, Patsy McDonald of Winsted, CT, and brother, Jack Barrett of Abilene, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Peggy Thomsen.

Betty’s family would like to thank Heart ‘n Home Hospice for their compassion and care for their beloved wife and mother.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Assistance League of Boise, 5825 N. Glenwood St, Boise, ID 83714.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Andrew Kukla of First Presbyterian Church officiating. A private family committal service at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery will precede the memorial service.
