Betty Lou Holton,
age 88 passed away of heart failure Friday at a local hospital, just 51 days
after her husband's death. They say you can die of a broken heart, & if 67
years of marriage wasn't proof enough of their love, then her parting
was.
She was born
August 1930, in Alpena Arkansas to J. Samuel & Velvie Raynor. Betty was the
youngest of 8 children. The family moved to Star Idaho in 1936, where she
attended school and graduated from Middleton High School.
Betty worked for
Mountain Bell Tele Comp where she met Norman Holton, who would become her
husband. When they were dating, he told her, "Baby stick with me and
you'll wear diamonds in your hair." On their 25th Wedding Anniversary,
Norm had a custom set of diamond barrettes made, to wear in her hair, after all
those years.
The two were
married on Jan 27 1951, after which Betty became a wonderful homemaker. Norman
and Betty had 3 children. She lived for her family & yard, and found
immense joy in tending to her roses, posies, hibiscus, & dogwood trees.
Betty's flowers, yard, & gazebo drew praise from her neighbors and made a
coveted wedding venue.
Betty is preceded
in death by her husband Norman, parents, & siblings. She is survived by 3
Children: Jo Brownlee(Bill), Mike Holton(Teresa), Nancy Holton Grandchildren:
Shawn Brownlee(Amy), Christa Smith, Kelsey Meeker Great-Grandchildren: Bodie
& Tysen Brownlee, Halley & Tessa Smith.
Funeral Services
will be held on Wednesday, Jan 2, 2019, 1pm at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel in
Boise, Idaho.
