Beverly Kathleen was born, at home, to Ivan and Marjory Shroll on April 11, 1927 in Milwaukie, Oregon. She passed away on July 11, 2011, after many weeks in a hospital and care facility.
Beverly was baptized at the Brentwood Church of the Nazarene as an infant and remained a devoted Nazarene her entire life. When she was three, her family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Following that, the family preceded to move to various places in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan while she was growing up. She spent two years at Olivet College in Kankakee, Illinois. Then, in the summer of 1948, Beverly and her family moved back to the Milwaukie, Oregon area. Beverly once more attended the Brentwood Church, and later, Moreland First Church of the Nazarene in Sellwood, Oregon where she was very busy in both the choir and the missionary society. During this time she also worked as a bookkeeper for Georgia Pacific in downtown Portland.
She and Chuck Balding were married in Moreland First Church of the Nazarene on October 16, 1965. Following the wedding she moved to Boise, Idaho, where she resided until her death. Bev and Chuck were devoted members of the Boise First Church of the Nazarene and participated in many lay witness missions. She and Chuck continued traveling which gave impetus to the hobby of painting. She enrolled in a painting course and turned many of the slides she had taken in Europe into wonderful works of art that later adorned her walls. Later interests included stained glass and quilting, making several stained glass pieces and quilts for family members and friends.
Surviving her in death are nieces and nephews Kris (Steve) Osgood Crandell, Jerry Osgood, Janis (Rusty) Osgood McGowan, Scott (Carole) Shroll, Sheri (Louis) Shroll Hatfield. From her marriage with Chuck she is survived by step sons Dave (Sherry) Balding, Bill (Barbara) Balding, and stepdaughter Janice Sullivan as well as nieces and nephews Dennis (Molly) Pooley, and Pam (Garry) Matlock; and numerous grandchildren, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Preceding her in death: her husband, Chuck Balding, her brother, Robert Shroll, and sister, Miriam Osgood, and her cherished brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ellsworth and Pansie Pooley.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the First Church of the Nazarene on July 28, 2011, at 3:00 pm.
