Billie V. Rogers died Sunday
morning after a brief stay at Life Care Center of Valley View. The 5th of
January, 2014, was just two days after her 89th birthday. She had struggled for
the last few months with many hospital stays for numerous ailments. The New
Year had brought with it an end to these, but their toll on her body was too
great. She left this world peacefully to join her husband of 67 years only two
years after his passing.
Billie was born in Evadale TX in
1925 and grew up in the Houston area during the Great Depression and WW II. As
a war-bride she found herself travelling the country with a career military
husband and raising two children. After retiring to Idaho, they made their home
in Caldwell, Cascade and Boise. Billie was involved in many organizations throughout
the years, but while in Cascade she formed lasting friendships during her many
hours of work with the Eastern Star Valley Chapter #74. One of her most recent outings
took her to Horseshoe Bend for a recent Chapter installation.
In recent years, Billie enjoyed
playing Bingo and had formed friendships with many other players throughout the
Treasure Valley. Her chair at the Bingo Hall will not be filled easily.
Billie is survived by her two
children, John C. & Mona Rogers of Caldwell and Lana Friederich of Boise,
seven grandchildren spread throughout the United States and six great-grandchildren.
Numerous nephews, nieces, friends and family will feel the loss of her
presence.
An informal
celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014
at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
