Billy J Downing

Billy Joe Downing passed away on March 15th 2025, at his home in Meridian, Idaho from a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born on January 19, 1938 in Clinton Henry County Missouri, the fourth of seven children born to Timothy M. and Dollie (Taylor) Downing.

He married his wife of fifty-four years Karen Lea Fouts on March 20th 1971.

Bill was a long distance truck driver with WAL-MART having over Eleven Million Accident Free miles under his belt. He won many awards in truck driving and truck rodeos.

Retiring in 2002 Bill and Karen spent over ten years as snow birds in Yuma, Arizona.

He is survived by his wife Karen, sons, Douglas E. Downing (wife Kelli), Steven E. Downing, and Mitchel J. Downing.  He is survived by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Darren R. Downing, his parents and six brothers and sisters.

Graveside services are being held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25th 2025 at Dry Creek Cemetery in the Willows Section under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.

The family would like to thank the wonderful care Bill received from Doctors Hospice of Idaho and The Visiting Nurses for their wonderful and loving care they gave to Bill.

Donations may be made in Bill’s name to the Alzheimer Association or the Idaho Humane Society.
