Bonnie Joan Finkler (Sisson)

Bonnie Finkler of Boise passed away on April 5. She was born in South Bend, Indiana and spent most of her life in Milwaukee. She attended Messmer High School and Marquette University where she earned a degree in journalism. She later earned a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Arizona and that launched her career as a social worker. Bonnie was a generous friend to all who knew her. She cared deeply for others. She loved reading, movies, live music, politics and writing. She joined book clubs and wrote numerous poems about her family members and the natural world.

As a social worker in Milwaukee, she helped children reunify with biological relatives or find foster and adoptive homes. Her impact lives on in the hundreds of families that she supported throughout her career.

She loved sports especially the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers and Marquette Warriors (now the Golden Eagles). She also enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in their numerous activities.

She is survived by her children, Ann Krauss, Kira Finkler and Victoria Rome, her sons-in-law David and Charlie, grandson Kevin and his wife Aiza, granddaughter Bonnie and her partner Matt, granddaughter Keely and her partner J.J., additional grandkids, Kierstyn, Luke, Katherine, Evan, and Aaron. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Alice Sisson, brother Tom, and granddaughter Alyse.

She will be greatly missed by her family and countless friends she made throughout her life. There will be a family burial in Pollock, Idaho. Memorial services in Wisconsin are pending.
