Brenda
Jo Rose Fralish of Boise died February 9, 2014, at Samaritan Village in
Boise. She was born on October 21,
1947, in El Centro, California to Ben and Jessie Burney Rose.
Brenda
attended Lowell Elementary, North Junior High and Boise High School, graduating
in 1966.
During
high school she worked at Film Service.
After graduating, she began work for the Animal Health unit of the
Idaho Department of Agriculture. She later
worked for the United States Office of Personnel Management, traveling to
area schools and recruitment centers to administer testing. She retired from the Bureau of Reclamation
in December 2012.
She
married Neil Fralish in February 1969 in Boise, and they had two children,
Rachel and Scott. They were later
divorced.
Brenda
was the ultimate volunteer. Over the
years she provided care and support for several elderly friends and neighbors
and volunteered at the Botanical Gardens, the Rescue Mission, Collister and
Taft Schools, Love Inc., and at many civic events.
Survivors
include her children Rachel Stites of Boise and Scott Fralish of Boise and
two grandchildren, Briana Coble and Logan Stites. She is also survived by her mother, Jessie
Rose of Boise, two sisters Ruby Tolsma (Tony) of Caldwell and Jeri Rose (John
Strange) of Meridian, and niece Margo Phariss (Todd) of Homedale, along with
numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and great nieces and nephew, and many
wonderful friends. She was preceded in
death by her father, Ben Rose.
The
family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Samaritan Village
for the wonderful care they provided to Brenda during her time there, and to
the staff of St. Luke’s Hospice.
A
viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday,
February 13 at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery.
