Byron "Bud" Thomas Taylor, "the
oldest Lawn Boy in Boise" passed away Thursday evening, December 6, 2012
at a local care center.
Bud was born September 26, 1921 in Boise, Idaho to George and Annie Taylor, the
youngest of 10 children. At the age of 2 his family moved to Eureka, Utah where
his father worked in the mines. He returned to Boise, Idaho at the age of 11.
Bud graduated from Boise High in 1939 and married Olive Ellis on July 18, 1942.
They enjoyed over 70 wonderful years together.
Bud joined the Air Corps in November 1943 and served until May 1946, during
World War II. He attended a local Business School for a time and worked in
various Industries until pursuing a career with the United States Postal
Service for eighteen plus years. Following his retirement, Bud began working
for Dr. Trudy Comba at local children's Day Care Centers providing maintenance
services. This led to his joy of mowing lawns for a growing number of
customer's. He maintained 35 lawns a week and became known as the oldest "Lawn
Boy" in Boise, finally retiring at age 88.
He was always active in life from the time of riding his bicycle as a youngster
from Stack Rock to the area now know as Bogus Basin to the Mountain Home
Desert, hunting rabbits and quail with his shotgun and little dog Curly. He
became an excellent swimmer, self taught in the Boise River. Throughout his
life he always stated there is no better place to live than Boise, Idaho.
He lived an exemplary life and was a loving and kind husband and father. He was
always a generous and thoughtful man, fully devoted to his Savior Jesus Christ
and his family. He never wavered in his faith or devotion to family. He
treasured every moment with his precious wife Olive, and valued the time spent
with John & DeAnn Slaughter and Sue Carpenter who were such help and a
source of joy to him to the very last breath.
He is preceded in death by his son Tom Taylor and his daughter Jeanette
Kruljac.
He is survived by his wife Olive Taylor, his grandchildren Greg Crosby (Mandy),
Lisa Booker, Mark Taylor, Rebekah Mayberry (Kent), Jennifer Martin (Gary), Kari
Kruljac, Kelly McGinnis (Joe), 5 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great
Grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bud joins his son and daughter in heaven now, home with his Savior Jesus
Christ.
