Carl W. (Bill) Birch, 93, of Star, died on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at his home.
Carl was born on October 16, 1922 in Star, Idaho to Fred W. Birch and Hazel Ottie Hughes Birch. He was one of two sons.
He graduated from Star High School.
Carl married Lois Slauter on May 24, 1947 at the Church of the Brethren in Star.
He was a life-long farmer. He was also a die-hard Cubs fan, enjoyed water skiing, fishing, and traveling with Lois in their motor home. He was a life-time Good Sam member, part of the American Legion, and a proud member of the United States Army, 1019th Engineer Treadway Bridge Company during World War II.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Birch, of Meridian; brother, Gene Birch, of Boise; son, Bob (Darla) Birch; daughters, Sharon (Mike) Lamm, Shirley (Bill) Carroll, and Janice (Terry) Drye; and a boat-load of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family wants to thank St. Alphonsus Hospice and the care givers that made it possible for dad to live at home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the charity of your choice in Bill’s name.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Star Cemetery.
