Carol Marshall Hobdey, born September 30, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on July 11, 2024, in Boise, Idaho. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all.
Carol's early life was marked by her family's evangelistic travels, living in different states during her formative years. It was in Boise where she met the love of her life, Larry at Mountain Bell Telephone Company. The two united in marriage on May 12, 1978, with the ceremony performed by her father Rev. Jackie Marshall.
Together with Larry, Carol raised two children: Crystal Pettis and Jason Hobdey, who later gave her the honor of becoming a grandmother to Shaina, Brooke, Parker, and Savannah.
During her professional career spanning 30 years at Mountain Bell Telephone Company (later CenturyLink), Carol dedicated herself diligently until her retirement in 2009. In retirement, she found joy in spending time with her grandchildren and exploring the great outdoors with the Capital Gypsies RV group.
Despite battling Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy following her diagnosis in 2009, Carol remained steadfast in her faith and continued to be an active member of CityHope Church for 46 years. Her vibrant personality and sociable nature endeared her to all who knew her.
Carol is survived by her devoted husband Larry of 46 years; children Crystal (Stu) Pettis and Jason (Mary) Hobdey; grandchildren Shaina, Brooke, Parker, and Savannah; as well as her brother Jack Marshall of SLC, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Revs. Jackie and Dorothy Marshall; siblings Rayleen Marshall and Anthony Marshall; and sister-in-law Marjean Marshall.
A viewing to pay respects will be held on July 17, 2024 from 6 - 8 pm at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel in Boise. The funeral service will take place the following day, 10:30 am at CityHope Church. Carol will be interred at Dry Creek Cemetery following the service.
