Carol was born in Seattle, WA on Oct. 5, 1938 to Walter and Alena Swift Voegtlin. She passed into the loving arms of her heavenly father on Dec. 4, 2018

Carol met the love of her life, Gary G. Gaertner at WSU and they married on July 3 , 1958. To this union were born their 3 children, Rene, Shannon, & Dean.

Mom was a professional model for the Crescent before finding her life’s calling as a nurse. She retired from St. Alphonsus in Boise, ID in 2008.

When Carol was younger, she loved to participate in equestrian jumping and later took up the sport of snow skiing. One of her greatest loves was spending time relaxing on the boat that she and Gary shared together. One of her favorite places was living on Mt. Spokane.

Carol had a great passion for all animals big and small and cared for many misfits including a family of raccoons that decided to move into her attic.

Carol was a mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, cousin and friend. She will always be remembered for her great compassion for all living beings, her amazing beauty inside and out and her passion for living life to the fullest.

Carol leaves behind 3 children and their spouses, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Her brother Karl Voegtlin, close cousin Dick and Connie O’Leary, Close friends Ron and Margaret Dudgeon and Randy and Sue Morrison.

In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in Carol’s name to the Humane Society or your local animal shelter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery.
