Carole Jean Clark, 85, of Garden City, died on February 8, 2017 at home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
Carole was born in Boise, on July 21, 1931 to Leonard Leitzke and Bessie Irene Penninger (Dunn). She attended North Jr. High School and graduated from Boise, High. Carole married Richard (Dick) Clark on June 17, 1950 in Boise. They were married for 54 years until Dick’s death.
Carole worked as an administrative assistant at First Security Bank. She also owned her own business, Chateau Grandmere Childcare, which brought her much joy. Carole, loved spending time at her cabin in McCall with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed cocktail hour and her favorite drink, a gin and tonic. Carole loved picking huckleberries, morel mushrooms, and going out on the lake in her boat. Some of her hobbies were knitting, sewing, gardening, cooking and reading.
Carole was a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi and enjoyed the many friendships she made there. Carole joined the GFWC Boise Columbian Club in 1995, and served as GFWC Idaho State President from 2010-2012. She chaired many committees and was the club historian. Carole also served on the Julia Davis Park Centennial Celebration Committee.
Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) Clark and a brother, Jay Leitzke.
She is survived by her children, Richard R. “Randy” of Bellingham, WA, Douglas Alan, of McCall, and Jon Thomas (wife, Jenny) of Meridian; a brother, Chuck Dunn of Lakeside, CA; grandchildren, Brandon Maxwell (wife, Kristine) of McCall, Heather Clark (fiancé, Nicholas Phillips) of Boise, Paige Thomas (husband, Silas) of Oceanside, CA, Taylor Clark (wife, Summer) of Friday Harbor, WA, Travis Hurley of Friday Harbor, WA, Jon Hurley of Friday, Harbor, WA; adopted grandson, Alex Salviejo of Boise; great grandchildren, Huckston Maxwell and Lakelan Maxwell of McCall, Nicholas Al-gattas, Sofia Clark and Jaxson Clark of Friday Harbor, WA; her loving companion, Zee Miller of Boise; and her beloved Boston Terrier, Rikki.
