Charlotte Lorraine Day

April 30, 1922 -June 6, 2021

The best mother anyone could ever wish to have is the mother of Pam, Tim and Roger.  She moved from the bond of earth to infinite heaven on the wings of her faith, her faith in Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  She died in the arms of her family.  While at her side, they profoundly shared the love she gave them, and the love created by the love of her life, husband Robert Day.  Family was the essence of her identity and she never lost or wavered from her love for family.  She gave her life to a grateful family and did so with safety, security and happiness.  With humility and respect, Charlotte gave boundless love to family, friends, country, and others.  Not shy, she conducted her natural self with the power of a strong woman.

Born 99 years ago, she is preceded  in death by her parents, John and Eleanore Gianunzio, siblings, Joyce(Richard) Lenhardt, Delores(Bob) Barr, and Robert Gianunzio.  She is survived by her children, Pamela Sue Pavelek and husband Richard Pavelek, Timothy Robert Day and wife Deborah Day, and Roger John Day, her grandson, Robert Pavelek, her granddaughter, Nicole (Pavelek) Houston and husband Beau Houston, and great-granddaughter, Kieda Houston.

After graduating from Boise High School in 1940 she attended Boise Junior College (later Boise State University).  Charlotte as the consummate people person was voted the BJC yell queen to cheer her college on. She sang with a gifted voice and loved music. She performed in a singing trio called the Three Gs, and also the Boise High School a cappella choir. She would always find herself humming and singing.   WWII began and she married her soulmate, Bob, who she had known as a senior in high school and who was serving as a pilot and Captain in the US Army Air Corp.  After the service, Bob and Charlotte moved to Los Angeles where he attended USC and finish his degree in Business and Real Estate; while, Charlotte became secretary to the Business Manager of USC. Afterwards they returned to Boise. They entered the family business, Day Realty Co. with Bob’s father Ernest G. Day, and two brothers Don and Ernie.  Charlotte was the First Lady of Boise when Bob became mayor of Boise in 1959.  First Lady was a good experience and provided her the opportunity to meet people she would not have met otherwise. For example, she met members of the Russian Politburo, attended many luncheons, and diligently worked to make Boise an even a better place.  She joined P.E.O. in 1969 and was active member of Chapter H.  The comradeship in P.E.O. was near and dear to her.  She loved reading, singing, playing bridge, skiing, traveling, enjoying the family cabin on Payette Lake, and living the philosophy of staying active.  A vibrant woman resulted who enjoyed each day.

Always as a Christian and later in life, she found her way to the Catholic Church.  As witnessed by her family on hand, she took her very last breath at the moment Father Dominique laid his hand on her forehead and commended her soul to heaven, Jesus, and God; and yes, at this exact moment.
