Christine
"Chris" (Edwards) Holthaus passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015,
at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center after a battle with cancer.
She was born on
December 20, 1952 to Donald and Theresa (Lechner) Edwards in Lewiston,
Idaho.
She graduated from Lewiston High
School in 1971 and attended Lewis-Clark State College.
She graduated from LCSC with a degree in
Education.
She married David Holthaus on
June 19, 1976 and the couple moved to Cottonwood, Idaho.
Chris began teaching at Prairie Elementary
School where she was employed until 1991.
She taught Kindergarten, 2nd Grade and the Title 1 program, which
assisted children with learning deficits.
Her daughter, Janet
was born in 1977, followed in 1978 by another daughter, Karen.
Son, Jonathan was born in 1985.
In 1991 the family moved to Boise, Idaho and
Chris worked at St. Mark's School as the librarian, a teacher's aide and helped
with technology until she retired in 2009.
She worked part time at Fred Meyer's for many years.
After she retired from St. Mark's, she worked
as an after school tutor and a page for the Ada County Library until illness
forced her to retire again in 2014.
Chris loved to read,
play games and spend time with her family.
She lived to help people and touched many lives over her years as an
educator.
She was a kind soul with an
amazing sense of humor.
We will miss her
terrible puns and goofy grin.
She was
much loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed by all.
Chris is survived by
her husband of 40 years, Dave; her daughter, Janet; son, Jon and grandson,
Daniel (Janet).
She is also survived by
her sister, Anna Cooper (Steve) of Lewiston; brother, Donald Edwards (Martha)
of Tualatin, Oregon;
and nieces,
nephews, aunts and uncles, many of whom live in Germany.
She was preceded in death by her daughter,
Karen and her mother and father, Theresa and Don.
In lieu of flowers
the family would request a donation be made in Chris's name to the St.
Alphonsus Cancer Care Center.
Memorial
services will be held in the Spring.
