Christopher Joseph Brewer

Christopher Joseph Brewer

On Friday, March 21 st we lost Boise’s best-ever radio broadcaster.  Some may know him as “Chris” from the “Spud brothers,” or “Mad Max”, or even “Uncle Max.”  Friends, family and listeners will more lovingly refer to him as “El Gato.”

Chris was born in San Diego, CA on June 3 rd , 1962 to parents Gerald Brewer (Wilder, ID) and Maureen Brewer (Ocean Beach, CA).  He was preceded in death by his hero, his father Jerry, grandparents Andy and Lillian Brewer, and Helen Daniels, aunt Betty Chigbrow and uncle Chuck Shea.  Chris was arguably the funniest, most intelligent man there was and many in the industry today strive to live up to his high standards.
He could tell a story like no other and you were never really certain if he was making it up or if it really happened.  He left a lasting impression everywhere he went.
He was a very involved father to his four absolutely perfect children: Kara Elizabeth (22), Amy Jane (16), Molly Ann (15), and Joseph “Joey” Lee (11).  When they asked he gave and he gave so much the void left behind will be too wide to ever be filled.  He loved them more than anything and was so proud of each of them.  It would be a rare moment to not catch him bragging about each of their individual accomplishments, no matter how big or small.  Each child benefitted from one of his most dominant traits: Kara and Joey with athleticism, Amy with showmanship, and Molly with the guitar.  They are all in their own way a true reflection of his unique and powerful spirit.   The only one he loved that could possibly compete with his children was his cherished and worshipped Black Lab, Ivey.  She refused to play fetch, only catch, and made one helluva shortstop during family games.

Chris is survived by best friend and mother of his children, Beth Brewer, sister Becky and her husband Mark Stasi, mother Maureen,  and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, Andrew George, and so many, many cherished friends too numerous to mention.

Service will be Saturday, March 29 th at 11 am at Alden Waggoner, 5400 Fairview Ave, Boise.  Light refreshments will be served after at the Maple Grove Grange Hall, 11692 W. President Dr., Boise.  Dress is casual and the family requests bright-colored clothing to commemorate this celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations on Chris’s behalf to the Idaho Humane Society.
