Clara was born in Fruitland, ID, on October 23,
1917, to Rev. Ford and Besse Jones Burtch. She attended grade school in Montana
and graduated from Dawson County High School. She enrolled and attended one
year at Northwestern Bible School before transferring to Northwest Nazarene
College for two years. Clara earned both her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in
Education from the College of Idaho. She began teaching elementary school in
Notus, ID, before moving to Boise. In Boise, she taught at Whitney, Central,
and Campus Schools. Clara was later hired by the Boise School District as the
Supervisor of Boise Schools, where she served in that capacity for ten years.
Boise State then hired Clara to train future teachers. She retired in 1978,
after working at Boise State for nine years.
Clara was a member of First Baptist Church,
beginning in 1954 and for the rest of her life. She was active in Music
Ministry and Christian Education. She taught Sunday School almost all of her
life, beginning at age 11. She retired from Sunday School, teaching the
wonderful Sojourners Class after many years because of poor health. Clara was
also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her two
sisters, Margaret (Molly), and Muriel Small (Mrs. Milton); and her four
brothers, John, Steven, Robert and Rolland (Pat) Burtch.

(Art), and Beth Jensen; also her nephews, Douglas Small, Lynn Burtch, Neil
Burtch (Susie), Robert Burtch (Carolyn), Gary Burtch (Chelle), Paul Burtch
(Lori), Stephen Burtch (Joy), and Douglas Burtch (Teri); and many great nieces
and nephews.
