Cordia Mcmahan Davies

Cordia Davies was born April 6,1913. She passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011, in Boise, Idaho. Cordia was the youngest of three children born to Ben and Delia Centers. She married Alvie McMahan and to them was born two children Cleva and Dwayne. Alvie died in 1967 and in 1970 Cordia married Meyrick Davies. They lived in Fresno California until his death in 1977, at which time Cordia moved to Boise. She enjoyed Idaho and traveled on many trips and tours with the Boise Senior Citizens. Volunteer works at the Boise Senior Center and at the V. A. Hospital were just two of the places where she made many friends. She belonged to both the V. F. W. and American Legion Auxiliaries.

Cordia was a member of the Presbyterian Church for many years and before coming to Boise she held several elected and appointed positions. While in Boise she became an active member of the Women’s Bible Study Group. One of her passions in life came from reading and studying the Bible. Her major disappointment came when she could no longer read because of her failing eyesight. She then became an avid listener of many books thanks to the Idaho State Talking Library.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two older brothers, both her former husbands and her daughter, Cleva Jean Owen. She is survived by a son, Dwayne and Rainey McMahan of Boise, five grandchildren; Mike Owen and Dana Sakoda of Fresno CA, Troy McMahan of San Francisco CA, and Kevin McMahan of Seattle WA, Teresa Thompson of Piedmont, SD; and nine great-grandchildren Marcus Owen, Christopher Sakoda, Kyle and Kate McMahan, Aiden and Grace McMahan and Kevin, Rachel and Benjamin Thompson.

The family would like to thank the staff on the second floor of Valley View Life Care Center. They made her last days comfortable and provided her with care and dignity. We would also like to thank a family friend, Liz Wieneke, who provided mom with many hours of kindness and friendship and the ladies of the First Presbyterian Church, especially Nancy Sopwith.

Interment will be at Belmont Memorial Park Cemetery, Fresno California.
