Dan Marshall Evans was born in Caldwell, Idaho, on January 7, 1953, to Leland Ray Evans and Juanita McManus Evans. He passed away on November 28, 2022.
Dan’s family lived in Sunny Slope on his grandfather’s farm. All on board when it was the Evans family, the children learned to plant tomatoes, pick apricots and milk cows, learning to work at a very young age. The family later moved to Crouch where Dan’s dad took up logging. Dan began grade school in Garden Valley and later moved to Cascade where he started the third grade and later graduated High School. He was a great athlete, playing basketball, football, baseball, and track. His father Lee was so proud of his left-handed pitcher. Dan could strike out the opposing team and Lee would treat the entire team to milk shakes at the Truck Stop.
Dan was a hardworking man his entire life. He worked alongside his dad, logging first and later on with Evans Dewatering. He was never afraid to get his hands dirty and get things done. At an early age, he was already skidding logs in the Boise National Forest with his dad. Later on in life, Dan’s job responsibilities took him to many places, including Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii, while he was logging for Columbia Helicopters.
Dan did not have kids, but he loved his nephews and nieces dearly. They remember Dan as the most loving and funny uncle there ever was. He had a joke ready at all times when talking to the kids, always putting a smile on their faces.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His brother Kim, and some of his nephews had the opportunity to join him during many hunting trips, creating memorable moments, and learning the art of hunting and dressing an animal.
Dan will be remembered for his big heart, compassion towards others, sense of humor, his love for the outdoors and the unconditional love for his family. He was survived by his siblings, Sandy Evans Morgan, Penny Evans Leavitt, Lisa Evans Green, and Kim Evans, and was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Juanita, his younger brother Scotty, brother-in-law Tony Fackrell, and nephew Jeffrey Jensen.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 17th, 2022, at 2:00pm at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave. Boise, Idaho. Family and friends are invited to the Beumeler’s home at 2869 Autumn Way, Meridian, Idaho immediately after the memorial service concludes.
