Delia (Dee) Mae McManus died June 19, 2011, passing peacefully with grace and dignity surrounded by her family, after a valiant battle with cancer. Delia was born January 5, 1927 in Boise, Idaho. She was 84.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel,
5400 Fairview, Boise. A viewing will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Private burial will take place at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.

Daughter of Robert Zautz and Wilma I.Cunningham, Delia lived her entire life in Boise. Delia graduated from Boise High School in May of 1944. She later met husband Tim while working for the Disabled American Veterans’ (DAV) National Service Office. Tim and Delia were married in Boise on November 8, 1947. They were married 58 years at the time of her husband’s death.

Delia worked as a secretary and accountant for the DAV, Messina & Jackson Accountants, and Gordon Smith Accountants. She then began working for the Dept. of Education, then the State Board of Education, where she worked for 25 years before retiring in 1985.

Delia’s hobbies included ceramics and crocheting afghans for her family. She was an active member of the Prime Time Swingers, a band that enjoys playing music for the older generation. Delia loved playing the washboard.

Delia was a member of the Unity Rebekah Lodge #8, LAPM Columbia #3, and Rose Rebekah Lodge #18 (Idaho City), all associated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellowship. She was an active member for seventy-two years. Delia served in each unit as Presiding Officer and Secretary. She was President of the Rebekah Assembly of Idaho in 1984 and 1985 and served as Secretary for the Rebekah Assembly of Idaho from 1991 to 1993. She was also Past President and Past Secretary for the Department Assoc. Lady Auxiliary Patriarch Militant (L.A.P.M.) of Idaho.

Survivors include three sons and one daughter-in-law, John R. McManus, Boise, Idaho, Jim and Kathy McManus, Oakley, CA, and Terrance McManus, Boise, ID; sisters Helen Caywood, Burley, ID and Zina Lindberg, Boise, ID; grandchildren, Remi McManus, Hannah McKuin, Shelley McManus, Joseph McManus, Casey McManus and Sean McManus; great-grandchildren, Race, Riggins and Eamon McManus, and Max, Leo, and Finn McKuin. Delia is also survived by nieces and nephews including Judy Lynn Adams, Salt Lake City, UT, Janet Marie Jensen, Idaho Falls, ID, Dennis Caywood, Montpelier, ID, and Robert Caywood, Burley, ID, Mike and Mark Fincher, Seattle, WA, Thomas Fry, Vancouver, WA, and Steven Fry, Medford, OR. Delia loved and was loved by her extended family including sister-in-law, Jessie Nicolaysen, and nieces and nephews, Charlene Childers, Sharon Thompson, Tom Thatcher, Dick VanFossen, and Glenn McManus, all of Boise.

Delia was preceded in death by her husband, John “Tim” McManus, son Kelly Joe, her parents, and her sister, Mary Anna Caywood.
