Dick Brooks Richards was born
December 9, 1940 to Wayne & Martha Richards. He passed away at home on
April 18, 2020 at 79 years old. He grew up with his older brother Bill &
younger sister Marie in Hailey, Idaho. Dick attended school in Hailey &
Boise. After moving to Boise, he started his grocery store career, working in
the produce & meat departments. Dick married Glenda Faye DeGraaff on Feb.
12, 1966. They were blessed with 2 children, Debbie & Dan.
Dick retired at 62 from
Albertsons meat department. He then worked with his son in landscaping for 10
years and enjoyed every minute. He was a lifelong member of the Followers of
Christ church and dearly loved his church family. Dick was always a happy,
contented man with a ready smile for everyone. He loved to work hard and treat
his loved ones to a nice meal. He was loving, generous, affectionate and a
devoted family man.
He was preceded in death by
his parents, brother and sister-in-law Bill & Phyllis Richards, sister and
brother-in-law Marie & Doug Olsen, and in-laws Mike & Gladys DeGraaff.
Dick is survived by his wife of 54 years, children Gary & Debbie Holsclaw
and Dan & Angela Richards, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, as well
as in-laws Ron & Roberta DeGraaff, and Merle & Jean Lingel, many nieces
& nephews and very dear old friends.
His faithful example
and hospitality will be remembered by many. He was deeply loved and he will be
greatly missed by all who knew him.
Due to the current restrictions a private burial was at Meridian Cemetery.
