Donald F. McNarie, 74, died and went to Jesus on Sunday,
August 16, 2015 after battling with Cancer. He was surrounded by his family and close,
dear friends.
Don was born on Dec 6
th
, 1940 in Prescott,
Arizona to Marion & Eleanor McNarie and was the youngest of 6
children. He grew up in Prescott, where
he attended and graduated in 1958 from Prescott High School where his father
was also a teacher. This is where he also met and married his High
School sweet heart, Marjie Bochat on August 26, 1961. They moved to Flagstaff, Arizona and he
graduated in 1964 from Northern Arizona University with a Degree in Forestry. Don and Marjie moved to Manhatten, Kansas
where he worked for Kansas State University as a Forester for one year. In 1965 they moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming
and they lived at the Black Rock summer station where he continued his Forestry
Service. In 1966, they moved to Idaho,
where he continued his Forestry Service working for Idaho Department of Lands in
Orofino and Sandpoint. While in Orofino, in 1967 they were blessed
with their first son, Mike. When Mike
was only 6 months old, Don’s National Guard Unit was activated to Vietnam War. When he returned from Vietnam in 1969, they
welcomed their 2
nd
child, Karen.
Don and Marjie moved to Sandpoint, ID and Don resumed his Forestry
work. Don served his country in the Army
branch and was honorably discharged in Dec, 1971. In 1976 Don, Marjie and family moved to Boise,
ID and Don served as a Lands Records Specialists, where he worked and then retired
from in 2002. In 1978, they welcomed their 3
rd
child, Cheryl. During
Don and Marjie’s life together starting in Sandpoint, they became Foster
Parents and cared for over 300 infants and children and they recently retired
in 2014. Don and Marjie are a true
blessing to so many children and families for all their work. During his
Retirement years, Don volunteered for the Idaho Military Museum, Boise Public
Library, and the State Library. Don was
very active in his Church at Central Valley Baptist in Meridian as he was a Deacon,
Greeter and too many others to mention.
Don will surely be missed.
Don is survived by his wife Marjie, his Son Mike McNarie (Tonya),
Daughter Karen Cole (David), and Daughter Cheryl Treumpler (Jaime). Two brothers Bob McNarie (Doris) and Bill
McNarie (Nancy). They have 4 very special
grandchildren, Courtney Cole, Cameron Cole, Alec McNarie and Krissy Treumpler,
along with many other family, close friends and co-workers. Don is preceded in death by his parents,
Marion and Eleanor McNarie, Siblings, Barbara, Joann and Jim.
Celebration of Life will be held on August 26
th
,
2015 at 2:30 PM at Central Valley Baptist Church in Meridian. He
will rest in Peace at the Veterans Cemetery in Boise, ID. In honor of Don, donations can be made to the
Central Valley Baptist Church Building Fund in Meridian, ID.
