Donald Vern
Royse, 85, of Boise, died Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in Boise.
Donald was born
on September 29, 1931 in Berryville, Arkansas to Verne M. Royse and Ruby
Winfrey Royse. He moved with his family
to Idaho and graduated from Gooding High School. Donald married Lila Mae Holmes, the love of
his life, on July 7, 1956, in Ontario, Oregon.
They made their home in Boise, Idaho where Donald worked in Law
Enforcement with the Idaho State Police and also for State Farm Insurance.
He enjoyed
reining and cutting horses and camping.
Donald was a
loving family man, a devout Christian and a Discussion Leader with Bible Study
Fellowship for many years. He was a member of Summit Church, Cutting Horse
Association and the American Quarter Horse Association.
Survivors include
his son, Bradley and Joyce Royse;
brother, Mearl and Karen Royse;
brother, Earl and Marilyn Royse;
sister, Sheryl and Larry Adams;
son-in-law, Doc and Michelle Schlekeway;
grandchildren, Eric Schlekeway (VI), Anjee Schlekeway, Michael
Schlekeway, Josh (Cassie) Royse, Dustin Royse, Reanna Royse, Jennifer (Daniel)
Talich, Nicholas Royse, and Jennifer Messner;
and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded
in death by his wife, Lila Mae Royse, daughter, Patricia Ann Schlekeway, son,
Steven Don Royse, grandson, Brandon A. Schlekeway, parents, Ruby and Verne
Royse, his brother, Robert Royse, and daughter-in-law, Monica Lynn Royse.
The family would
like to give special mention to the staff at Overland Court Assisted Living for
their loving and special care they gave to Donald.
A funeral service
with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2017 at the
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. The
committal service will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at a later
date.
