Donald Ford, 83, of Meridian, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at
his home after an extended illness.
Donald was born on February 8, 1932 in Santa Rita, New
Mexico, the son of Nita and Daymon Ford. He graduated from Hurley High School
in Hurley, New Mexico in 1949. He married Colleen Gallagher on October 13,
1950, and they had one daughter, Linda.
Donald and Colleen lived in the Silver City, NM area until moving to
Meridian, ID in 1996 to live close to their daughter and her family.
Donald worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company in Silver
City, NM for 33 years. He then worked part-time for a telephone contractor for
a number of years. Donald loved the outdoors, especially the mountains of New
Mexico where he spent much of his childhood and adult years camping, hunting
and fishing with his family. He was also an avid golfer and made some very good
friends in Meridian on the golf courses. Even though he was a New Mexican most
of his life, he came to love the Boise area, too, and never ceased to be
impressed by the friendliness of the people here.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Perkins and her
spouse, Marv, of Meridian; his granddaughter, Brianna Stafford, and her spouse,
Jake, of Meridian; and numerous extended family members both here and in New
Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Alton Ford.
At Donald’s request, no services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of the
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel & Crematory. Donald’s family suggests that
any remembrances you may choose to make be
made to The Idaho Humane Society, the Women's & Children's Alliance of
Boise, ID, Ronald McDonald House, or a charity of your choice.
