Donna Jean (Inloes) Clopton

October 11, 1930 — August 23, 2024

Boise

Donna Jean (Inloes) Clopton passed away on August 23, 2024—finally reunited with all those she had loved and lost.

She was born October 11, 1930, in Quinter, Kansas to Etta Mae Ikenberry Inloes and Ted Inloes. Joining three brothers (Archie, Mel, and Ted Jr.) and two sisters (Viola and Norma), she was the baby . . . until Gerald Scott arrived eight years later and surprised them all.

The Great Depression and the Dust Bowl served as the backdrop to her formative years; she survived smallpox, scarlet fever, whooping cough, the mumps and measles (not to mention the associated home remedies) before ever reaching the midway point of her life.

In the summer of 1945, her family moved to Ontario, Oregon, where she worked at the Pix Theatre and the Dimes store. Three years later she married Lonnie Moseley. They moved to Burns, Oregon and had four children: Jerry, Sonja, Debbie, and Jodi.

The decades that followed were filled with good memories, heartbreaking memories, and everything in between.

But it was after Donna divorced and moved to Boise that she met the true love of her life. She married Vern Clopton in 1971 and welcomed three bonus kids to the family: Greg, David, and Karma.

Donna and Vern enjoyed twenty-one years of gardening, travel, family dinners, and home movies—of love and laughter. Vern passed away in October of 1992 after battling cancer.

And while Donna would have much rather gone home with him, she continued. She continued to love her family and friends; to stand up for those she deemed downtrodden; to crack jokes and laugh; to “paint” and craft. Most of all, she continued to live a life of faith; she continued to pray for her friends and family; and she continued to look forward to the day when “God will wipe away every tear from [our] eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

Those she left behind—including her children, Jerry Moseley (and Pam); Sonja McDannel (and Bob); Debbie Brueggemann; Jodi Siebe (and Brad); Greg Clopton; and David Clopton (and Debbie); 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren—will continue where she left off.

As for those who went on ahead of her—her parents, all her siblings, a daughter, a daughter-in-law, a grandson, and countless friends—oh, what a glorious reunion was sure to be had!

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow at Parkview Cemetery in New Plymouth, Idaho.

In lieu of flowers, she requested you make a donation in support of mental health.
