Donna R. Schaffer, 88, of Boise, died Monday, November 4, 2019 at home of natural causes.

Donna was born August 8, 1931 in Sandpoint, Idaho, the daughter of Arthur and Jessie Marie Long Russell. She grew up in Northern Idaho and on March 29, 1947 she married William M. “Bill” Schaffer in Coeur d’ Alene. Together they lived in Smelterville, Pinehurst, Coeur d’ Alene, Kellogg and then moved to Boise in 1984. She continued to reside in Boise until her death.

In addition to raising her family Donna had a varied work life including a bank in Kellogg and then she and Bill managed the Mt. Vernon Apts in Boise until retiring in 1996. She had many interests including Yoga, Tai Chi, and any card or board game. She loved “life in general”. Donna took a special interest in life and the lives of her children and their families. Mom belonged to the “Happy Club” of which she was a primary member. She had a great influence on all around her to belong also.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Vicki and Terry Spoor, Gloria and Jerry Venters, William and Christie Schaffer and Terry and Jon Seymore; twelve grandchildren, thirty great-grand children and eight great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Schaffer on June 11, 2007 and a grandson, John Spoor on July 7, 2007.

In lieu of flowers her family suggests memorials be made to any organization involved with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Cancer research, or a charity of your choice.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave., Boise, Idaho.
