Dora (Reimers) Howard, of Boise, Idaho died suddenly Friday, April 1, 2011 at the age of 86.
Dora was a native Idahoan born in Pearl, Idaho September 3rd, 1924. She married her husband of 62 years John, who preceded her in death in 2004, on August 1st, 1942. They raised a family of 5 children in Washington State then returned to Boise to retire in 1995.
She loved to spend time camping and fishing in the mountains with her husband. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, ceramics, crocheting, and painting and leaves behind many remarkable works done by her hand. During World War II she traveled around the country selling lady's foot ware and garments with a troop of women. She recalled some of her travels which included meeting the Andrew Sisters in Texas. Following World War II she worked as a secretary at Lloyds of London and at Albertsons Supermarket headquarters in Boise, Ada, Idaho. After raising her family, she worked as a Teamster warehouseman at West Coast Grocery in Tacoma, Washington from 1969 until she retired.
She is survived by her 5 children, Kathy in Las Vegas, Mike, Terry, and Gretchen in Washington State, and Ellwood (Woody) in Boise, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. One of Otto and Lina Reimers 9 children, she is also survived by a sister, Alice Baer and a brother, Melvin Howard.
Dora was so talented in so many ways; the loss of her knowledge of how to live and what is important is immeasurable. Dora was loved so very dearly as she was the center and strength of her family until the day she died.
