God thought she was a special lady, for he brought her into
this world on a cold Christmas Day in 1924, and took her home on a beautiful
Mother’s Day. This ended her four year battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born on a farm south of Nampa to Menno and Ruth Roth
and graduated from Nampa High School in 1941. Dorothy went on to Nampa Business
School while working part time at the Nampa and Caldwell Sales Yards. She also
worked full time for the Pacific Fruit Express and Montgomery Ward in Nampa.
She married John W. Shaver in 1949 in Nampa. They have two daughters, Debbie
(Doug) Kaufman of Caldwell, and Susan (Mike) Meyer of Meridian. Throughout
their 56 year marriage, they resided in Caldwell, Boise, Meridian, Emmett and Garden
Valley.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law;
two grandsons, Matthew and Jared Meyer of Meridian; and she is also survived by
numerous special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert
and Harold Roth; and sister, Mary Slade. Her husband, John Shaver also preceded
her in death.
There are no services planned, just an informal gathering of
the family in her honor at home. The family requests that no flowers be sent,
but donations may be sent to the Legacy Hospice Foundation, 680 So. Progress
Ave., Ste. 2A, Meridian, ID 83642 or to the Boise Rescue Mission, P. O. Box
1494, Boise, ID 83701-1494.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful medical
staff at MSTI and Legacy Hospice for their compassion and outstanding care of
our mother and grandmother. Thank you also to Dr. Leslie Nona and Dr. G. Perez
for their knowledge and skills in allowing her to have quality of life.
