Dwain Douglas Griggs, 68 of Boise, Idaho, beloved father, brother, grandfather and friend passed away Saturday, June 11th, 2011 in Caldwell, Idaho. Born October 2nd, 1942 in Granite City, Illinois to Clayton and Rose Griggs. Dwain was the oldest of 4 siblings. He graduated from Mac-Hi in Milton-Freewater in 1960, later he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Boise State College in 1970 and was an avid Bronco fan.
Dwain married his high school sweetheart Vera Marie Struthers on December 1st, 1961 in College Place, Washington. Dwain and Vera moved to Boise, Idaho to begin their family having two children Rick Lynn Griggs and Teresa Kay Griggs.
Dwain served his country in the Untied States National Guard from 1960 through 1967. After college Dwain worked for the Intermountain Gas Company and then Terteling Company as CEO and President of Eagle Aircraft Company. Later Dwain moved to Utah to become CEO of Powder River, moving on to become an independent business consultant for small businesses.
He is survived by his former wife, Vera Herms, and his companion of nine years, Sherree Merritt, son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Renee Griggs of Sammamish, WA; his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Joe Soldavini of Bristow, VA; grandchildren Joe and Deanna Soldavini of Kuna, Id; Allan Suderman of Boise, Id., Ryan Soldavini of Bristow, VA, and Joshua Griggs of Sammamish, WA. and great-grandchildren Braxton and Preston of Kuna, ID., sisters Joyce Goitien of Portland, OR. and Carol Henry of Coeur d'alene, ID., brother James Griggs of Salem, OR. , in addition to nieces, nephews, numerous cousins and friends.
Dwain was preceded in death by his father Clayton Griggs and his mother Rose Griggs.
Graveside services will be held at Dry Creek Cemetery on Saturday, June 25th at 11:00 a.m. with arrangements under the direction of Alden Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
