Ernestine M. Haynes, 96, long-time Eagle
resident, passed away January 15
, 2012, at a local care
facility, in the presence of family.
She was born in Roberts, Idaho, on May
22,1915, and moved with her family to homestead at Ustick City, Idaho, while
still an infant. In 1933 she graduated from Meridian High School and within a
year met and married, Carl F. Haynes. Ernestine and her late husband raised
cattle and farmed on acreage northwest of Eagle, in the Linder and Floating
Feather area. Their union produced one son, Curtis F. Haynes, formerly of Boise
and now deceased.
Ernestine enjoyed golfing, bowling,
gardening, crochet, and traveling with her husband. Following retirement, the
couple toured extensively through Alaska, Hawaii and the Panama Canal. They
also enjoyed being “Snowbirds” and living in Yuma, AZ, during the Winter
months.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her
late husband Carl, and her only child Curtis. She is survived by her sister,
Ruby Morris of Bend, OR; daughter-in-law Joan Lothrop, mother to
grand-daughters Whitney Wood (Eric) and Carrie Gibson (Douglas), both of Boise;
and two great-grand-children, Amanda and Sean Gibson.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00
p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012, at Dry Creek Cemetery, under the direction of the
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
