Esther
Charlotte May Sherman went home to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on
Saturday, February 2nd, 2019.
Esther was
born on May 11th, 1927 on a small farm in Ontario, Oregon to Blaine and Effie
May. She was part of a large, loving family of 11 siblings who remained
close-knit for their entire lives.
She was the
first in her family to earn a college degree and enjoyed a rewarding teaching
career both before and after she met and married the love of her life, Delmer
Floyd Sherman.
Esther and
Floyd had three children together. They loved their family and their community,
serving faithfully together in the Assembly of God church until Floyd's death
in 1981.
After her
husband's death, Esther would go on to be the first female deacon in her
church, a leadership role that she would fill for almost 20 years.
Esther's
greatest legacy lies in her very real love for others. Her grace, wisdom,
kindness and compassion were not just in her thoughts and words. They were part
of her everyday decisions and conversations, impacting all of her
relationships.
It is an
understatement to say that many lives have been changed because they knew
Esther Sherman.
Esther is
survived by her children David and Tami of Boise, Carol and Gary of Castle
Rock, WA, and Joanne and Todd of Nampa, her sister Vera Smith, as well as her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial
service for Esther will be held on Friday, February 8th at 2:00 at New Hope
Nazarene Church, located at 8585 W Overland Rd, Boise, ID. There will be a
celebration dinner at The Summit Church,
10375 Overland, Boise, ID, immediately following the service.
Any donations
in her honor should be directed to New Hope Nazarene's Special Needs program.
