Eulah Viola Thomas passed away Sunday, February 06, 2011 at the age of 88 in Boise, Idaho. Toots, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, will be missed greatly by all. Eulah was born in 1922 in Willow Springs, Missouri to Thomas and Leona Freeman. At the young age of 15, Eulah lost her mother. She is one of five children and the last to pass.
At Wilder High School, Eulah met the love of her life, Chester R. Thomas. Chet and Eulah married January 26th, 1940 and had two sons, Phillip and Jon. They enjoyed living in various places throughout the Northwest but called Boise home.
Eulah worked for a few different laundries and specialized in using a pressing machine. Her favorite hobbies included painting, ceramics, sewing, and embroidery. She also enjoyed donating her time to the local Boise and Nampa Moose Lodges and worked her way through the chairs of the Women of the Moose Lodge. The highest honor she held was Senior Regent. This honor was awarded to her at the main lodge in Chicago. In addition to volunteering, Eulah loved cooking for family and friends who looked forward to her cherry pies, potato salad, and cheese soufflé, to name a few of her specialties. While living in Nampa, Chet and Eulah owned Paul's Pizza, and she shared her cooking expertise with customers.
Being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother meant everything to Eulah. Chet and Eulah were married for 65 year before Chester passed away. Eulah is survived by her children and their spouses, Phillip and Kathy, and Jon and Deanna; niece, Karen Hunt; half-brothers, Larry and Everett Freeman; grandchildren, David and his wife Mary, Stephanie, Jason, Michelle
and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Trystin. Also surviving are three step-grandchildren, Laura, Mike and James, and three step-great-grandchildren.
The family extends a special thanks to Eulah’s loving grandson David and niece Karen Hunt for all their extra efforts visiting Eulah often and taking care of Pepe, her dog.
Funeral services will be held at Whitney Baptist Church, 2309 Dorian St., on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 3:00 pm in Boise, Idaho. Pastor John Dunkin will preside over the services. A reception will follow at the church reception hall.
