Evelyn Lucile Shaw Jewett Whittington

Evelyn Lucile Shaw Jewett Whittington

Evelyn Lucile Shaw was born on August 30, 1936, in Camas County, Idaho, to R.L. “Mannie” and Lucile Shaw.  She passed away on February 1, 2022, at Foxtail Senior Assisted Living in Eagle.

Evelyn joined one older sister, Charlene.  She grew up on the family farm, south of Corral, Idaho, riding horses, loving all the farm animals and in later years helping run the farm machinery.

Evelyn attended elementary school in a one room schoolhouse at Corral, Idaho, through grade 8.  She graduated from Camas County High School, in Fairfield and attended Boise Jr. College.  In 1955 she married her high school sweetheart, Dean Jewett.  Their 3 children, Luanne Helen, Randall

Dean (Randy) and Angela Charlene (Angie) were born while they lived in

Fairfield.  They later divorced and Evelyn and her children moved to Boise.

She worked for Western Power Sports in Boise, until the business closed. After that business closed, she returned “home” to work on her father’s farm for 1 year, after which she returned to Boise and worked at Wesco until her retirement.

In 1983 Evelyn married Wally Whittington and acquired two loving step-children, Stephanie and Stephen Whittington.

Evelyn was a member of Light of the Cross Fellowship.  After her retirement she enjoyed being a part of a Red Hat chapter.

The single most traumatic event in her life was the murder of her youngest child, Angela, in 2002.  She never fully recovered from the loss of Angie and the tragic events surrounding her death.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, R.L. “Mannie” and Lucile Barron Shaw; her husband, Wally, and her daughter, Angie.

She is survived by her daughter Luanne Samson of Boise; her son, Randy Jewett (Wendy) of Fairfield; step-daughter, Stephanie Whittington Baird (Tim) and step-son Stephen Whittington (Christine) both of Boise; grandchildren Laura Abbott (Jason) of Nampa, Sarah Harvey (Shawn) of Boise; J.D.

Jewett of Fairfield; Alyssa Mealer (Jason) of Rathdrum; Naim Haji of

Nashville, Tennessee; Malik Haji of Meridian; Tiffany Eller (Dan); Dylan Eller and Michael Whittington.  In addition, 6 great-grandchildren who called her “Grandma Great” survive her.  She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Charlene and Bob King of Eagle.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 W Fairview in Boise with Chaplain Vincent Nicotra of Harrison’s Hope hospice, officiating.

The family wants to thank everyone at Harrison’s Hope for their loving care of Evelyn throughout her illness and also the staff at Foxtail Senior Assisted Living for their faithful and tender care.  Both of these institutions gave their all to make Evelyn’s last days as comfortable as  possible
