EVELYN RAYMOND KOPAN
November 24, 1909 - June 25, 2011
A daughter, wife, mama, mama Ev, Sweet Gram, and GG, was set free Saturday morning, June 25, 2011, from a 101 ½ year old body. Living in two centuries, she saw the first phone, automobile, plane, T.V., and the first personal computer. How incredible is that?
Her journey of life began in Boise, Idaho as Evelyn Mae Barnes. She walked to both Longfellow grade school and Boise High, graduating in 1927. At the College Of Idaho, she was a scholar with nine years of Latin, and majoring in English and Shakespeare, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She played the violin in the orchestra and sang in many choirs.
In 1937 she married Hubert N. Raymond and they raised two daughters in Salt Lake City: Luanne Gochnour and Virginia Hale. After Hubert died in 1972 she moved back to Boise. Then the third part of her life began when she married Loryn Kopan in 1977 and became part of his family. They had fourteen years together when he passed away in 1991.
Like everyone, this wonderful and Grand Lady had many goals, achievements, and accomplishments which is very pleasing and fine. But Evelyn wanted it stated in her obituary that the final purpose and the greatest fulfillment in her life was to know the Love of God and believe in His Beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. In this joy “the things of the earth grow strangely dim in the Light of His glory and grace.”
The family recorded her beautiful soprano voice and her favorite Bible scriptures for the memorial celebration to be held on Sunday, July31, 2011 at 12:00 noon, at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. What a celebration it will be!
