Faye A. Williams (Sam) died November 26, 2017 in
McCall, Idaho at the age of 93.
Faye was born May 20, 1924 in Emmett, Idaho to Edward
and Delilah Oberst, the youngest of 8 siblings. She was always the baby sister
– no matter how old she got!
Her father died when she was 2, leaving her mother to
raise 4 boys and 4 girls – not an easy chore. At age 4, she moved with her
family to Boise.
After completing the Boise school system, she went to
work at Falks ID department store. She met her future husband, Bill Vanderhoef
in 1943. Then she went to work at Gowen Field Air Base, in the electric shop.
Later that summer she and Bill were married.
They had 2 boys – Burke, 1945, and Jon – 1950.
Faye always enjoyed archery and was quite successful
at deer hunting.
After 32 years, Bill and Faye divorced.
She later married Vern Williams in 1980. They had a
cabin at Terrace Lakes, played a lot of golf, and traveled to Arizona for
winter months. They had many good and happy years together.
She is survived by her two sons, Burke of California,
and Jon (Katy) of Eagle, Idaho; Grandson Scott (Lois) of Argyle, Texas;
Granddaughter, Sybil Hawkins of McCall, Idaho, Great granddaughters, Sofia
Hawkins and Chloe Vanderhoef; and Great grandsons, Hudson Hawkins and Wyatt
Vanderhoef.
She was preceded in death by Bill Vanderhoef, Vern
Williams, Jason Hawkins and Dana Vanderhoef.
She loved going to McCall, Idaho (Jon’s Cabin) during
the month of September every year to bow hunt with her son Jon.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 1,
2017 at 11 a.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery.
