Frank Martin was born June 13, 1938 in Portland, Oregon to
Thomas F. Martin and Irene S. Martin.
Frank joined two sisters, Helen and Ruth. Our family lived in Portland until August,
1946 when we moved to Boise, Idaho.
Frank attended Whitney Elementary, South Junior High and graduated from
Boise High School.
After graduating from high school, he worked for J. Weil
& Company, Ace Hardware Boise, Duratop, and Ace Hardware Eagle. He enjoyed working in sales and never met a
stranger. He was a good listener and
when people came in for products he could find what they needed if it was in
stock. He also joined the Idaho National
Guard and went to Texas for Boot Camp.
He was so thankful he lived in Idaho.
The rest of his National Guard time was in Idaho.
Frank has two married sons that live in Boise. They are Gregory and wife, Dawn, and Bryan
and wife, Jennifer. He also has two
grandchildren.
When Frank’s boys were young, the family enjoyed camping,
snowmobiling, and watching his sons play soccer. Frank, family, and friends built a log cabin
in Garden Valley. The family spent many
years together enjoying the cabin and all of their Garden Valley friends.
Frank has always enjoyed golfing, square dancing, Broncos,
Bud Light, John Wayne movies, puttering in his garage, and fixing anything that
was broken.
Frank and Jill, his wife of 13 years, liked to go on trips
to Jackson Hole in Wyoming and the Oregon Coast. He liked to travel but always has enjoyed
living in Boise.
Frank died Saturday, September 27, 2014 in a local assisted
living facility. A viewing will be held from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1,
2014, at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 2
p.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery.
