Gale Prince

Gale Prince, a proud member of “The Greatest Generation,” passed away on August 12, 2016 at the age of 94.

Gale was born to Pansy and Frank Prince on August 2, 1922 in Caldwell, Idaho. His sister Elaine was born two years later. The family moved to Washington, living in a number of different cities there.
His parents divorced when he was just a boy and he was raised by several of his Rutledge uncles on a ranch in the McCall-Lakefork area.

Gale enlisted in the Air Force in 1944 and proudly served his country as a radio operator and a gunner on a B-24, flying 21 plus missions in Italy and other parts of Europe.

After returning home, he met and married Maxine Adams on February 16, 1946. They had one daughter, Linda. They were married for 58 years, until Maxine passed away from complications of a stroke.

Gale worked at various jobs from the age of 10. He worked many years in the sheet metal industry until his retirement.

He was at his happiest when he and Maxine were fishing on the Payette in Garden Valley where Maxine’s parents lived.

Gale is survived by daughter, Linda Deputy (John); 3 much adored grandchildren, Stacey Hogan, Johanna Darr (Gary), and Jon Deputy (Stacie); his 7 great-grandchildren brought him much joy: Emily and Danny Hogan, Austin, Ryan and Joncie Darr, and Makylah and Tristan Deputy; also a very special niece and nephew, Robin Richardson (Bruce) and David Cornwall (Linda).

Gale was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine and his sister, Elaine.

Fly high and free, Grandpa!

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 19, at 11 a.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
