Garrett William Goulet

Garrett W. Goulet passed away peacefully at home, Sunday morning, July 30, 2017 from cancer. Gary was born in Salem, Oregon, the second son of Homer and Adele Goulet. He grew up on a hop farm north of Salem and often spoke fondly of the two room school house he attended. He graduated from North Salem High School, attended Menlo College in Atherton, California and earned a BS in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University.

He worked as a structural engineer in Oregon and Washington. While employed in Seattle, he met and married Dee Ann Day, his wife of forty-eight years. Gary always wanted to farm and returned to the family farm in 1970. After brushing up on farming he and Dee Ann moved to Idaho where he farmed primarily sugar beets in Hagerman, Murphy and Nampa. He sold his farm in 2000 and retired.

Gary and his family have lived in Boise for forty years. Gary was a beautiful skier and enjoyed skiing with his family and friends in Sun Valley during the eighties and nineties. Gary loved Porsches and bought his first one at age forty. He bought and sold several Porsches over the years and spent as much retirement time as possible driving on race tracks. His favorites were Sebring, FL and Laguna Seca in Monterrey, CA. The past three winters he happily resided in Rancho Mirage, CA, not too far from a couple of southern California race tracks.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother Phil, He is survived by his wife, his daughter Heidi and son Greg. Gary avoided going to funerals so his ashes will be left in his car while his family has a private service at a later date.
