youngest of seven children. In 1941 Hazel and th

followed her brother to Boise

later moved to the farm north of Star

Gene
farmed the original propert

and acquired more adjacent
acres for more than 60

ears.
Gene met and married Arlene Taylor in 1946. Five children were
born to this union
,
and survive both Gene and Arlene. Richard (Kathy) Bailey resides
in Grand Junction
,
Colo
.
Marsha (Mike) Huffman and Sarah (Dave) Huddleston both reside in
Boise. Dennis (Rhonda) Bailey resides in Thornton
,
Colo
.,
and Robin (Randy) Dellimagine resides at Meridian
.
Gene is a well-known fixture
/
character
in Star and in the Nampa area. He owned and operated a fast-food restaurant on
the Nampa/Caldwell Blvd
.
for a number of
y
ears
,
and
made it a point to get to know each of his customers as a friend
.
While
farming
,
he and any number of the neighbors could be found parked in the
roadway or standing in a field discussing everything from crops to solving the
world's problems! Gene served in several capacities for the board of the
Farmers Union Canal Company over the years
,
and
enjoyed the comradeship of everyone there
.
With Arlene's passing in 2000
,
he
started thinking about some life changes of his own and sold nearl
y
all
of his farming operation with the intent to travel some and r
e
lax.
He reconnected with a close family friend
,
Brenda
Harris, in September 2005. They fell in love and believed they were destined to
b
e
together
,
becoming engaged in April 2012
.
The
y
s
hared in many travel
s
and
adventures, including an 11-day Alaskan Land Tour and Cruise in 2013
.
Brenda
states that their love was an unconditional magical gift that bonded them for Eternity
.
Gene leaves behind, including his children, 21 natural and
extended-family grandchildren, and 33 natural and extended-family
great-grandchildren. He leaves all of his "favorite" nephews and
nieces all of whom called him their "favorite" uncle. He also leaves
behind his fiancé, Brenda, and he was very close to members of her family who
will miss him.
He is predeceased by his wife Arlene, grandson James, his
parents, and all of his siblings.
Dad, all the farming is done, no more work; time to rest. We all
love you and will miss your guidance and "pranks". Thank you for all
the memories that will help us carry on.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 13, from 4-7 p.m. at
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave. Boise. A funeral service will
be held on Tuesday, July 14, at 1 p.m. at Alden-Waggoner, with burial following
at Cloverdale Cemetery.
