Gene Austin Stover

Gene Austin Stover was born in Blackfoot, Idaho to Austin and Opal Stover on November 13, 1938. He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1958 and moved to Boise, Idaho. 

He was married to Gail H. Stover on October 20. 1960. He served as a member of the Idaho Army National Guard from 1958 until his retirement as a Master Sergeant in 1996. During his lengthy career he served as an Army Bandsman, cook, mechanic, vehicle maintenance superintendent for OMS-3, Idaho State Army National Guard state food service superintendent and a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer and leader. After retirement he worked as a school and charter bus driver and owned a redwood sign business. He loved to spend winters in Apache Junction, Arizona and summers in Donnelly, Idaho. 

He is survived by his wife Gail Stover and sons and their wives Scott Stover (Atsuko), Kip Stover (Lisa), grandchildren Tyler Stace (Yvonne), Donna Stover, McKenna Stover, Natashia Reidinger (Michael), great Grandsons Malcolm and Everett Reidinger, Damian Rolland and his sister Marlyn Wixon (Bill). 

He was preceded in death by his daughter Cindy Badesheim (Stover), his brother Ronald Stover, and his parents Austin and Opal Stover. He was well-loved by all who knew him. 

There will be a memorial service with military honors at the Idaho State Veteran’s Cemetery on March 24 at 2:00 PM.
