Genevieve Angeline Gardner

Genevieve (Gen) Gardner passed away peacefully on Saturday November 29, 2014.  Gen was born in Staples, Minnesota to Henry and Minnie Klappenbach on May 27, 1921; and was known as Nieve to many.  She graduated from high school in Lewiston, Idaho and attended Lewis and Clark Normal School, now known as Lewis and Clark Community College.   Gen’s claim to fame was being one of the original Rosie the Riveters.  She used to say, “I bucked rivets on B-17’s and B-24’s.”  During this time she met her husband, Jack E. Gardner.  They had two sons; Steven R Gardner and Dave Gardner.  Gen was an avid Boise State fan.  She held season tickets to both the men’s basketball and football teams.  She was also on a mixed-double’s bowling league when she was younger.  She spent many years making beautiful pottery at Fort Boise and also enjoyed knitting.  All grandkids were guaranteed a new pair of knitted slippers as Christmas gifts.  Gen always had a special spot in her heart for cats, she adopted and cared for many fortunate strays over the years.  She is survived by her two sons;  Steven R Gardner  (Whitney) of Nampa, Idaho;  Dave Gardner of Winter Park, Florida; Four grandchildren;  Chris Gardner(Amy),  Amy K. Gardner, Ryan Gardner(Michelle) &  Mark Gardner (Sierra).  She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren (Roman, Hailey, Drake, Callan, Corbin, Tyler and Micah).  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister; Genetha K.
