Xvie Wise, 95, of Boise passed peacefully away into the
awaiting arms of her beloved husband, Paul on Monday, January 16, 2012.
Xvie was born to Randolph and Gertrude Ketchum on August
30, 1916 in Bend, OR. She was the
youngest of three children and the only girl.
She attended schools in Bend and after graduation from High School, she
traveled to San Francisco, CA where she enrolled in a Music Academy studying
piano and voice with an emphasis in opera.
After her completion, she returned to Bend and began working at
Woolworth’s Drug Store where she met the love of her life, Paul Wise. After a brief courtship, they were married in
Honolulu, Hawaii on May 1, 1941.
They returned back to the main land two days prior of the
bombing of Pearl Harbor. Soon thereafter,
they began their family with the birth of their first born, a beautiful
daughter, Gwendolyn Xvie. After making
Boise, ID their home, sons Randolph and Homer were born.
When the kids began school, she worked part-time for Bach
Photography Studio. She then worked as a
receptionist for J.H. Wise and Son, Inc. and later became their secretary for
many years.
She enjoyed singing in her Church choir at University
Christian Church and being a member of the Madrigal Club. She also looked forward to weekly afternoons
with her lady friend’s playing cards and visiting. She loved tennis; playing in her early years
and faithfully watching in her later years.
Andre Agassi was always her favorite.
She was an avid follower of the soap opera, The Guiding Light and
couldn’t wait for her two favorite game shows to air, Who Wants to Be a
Millionaire and Deal or No Deal.
Her true passion was for her family. She so loved her children and grandchildren
and always looked forward to their visits and family gatherings. She proudly displayed all of their
accomplishments and pictures. She
enjoyed cooking for them as well as for any unexpected guests. We would all agree she was the world’s best
hamburger and pancake maker! She would entertain all of us with her tap
dancing while belting out a song an up until her late 80s she could tear up the
dance floor with the Charleston.
Underneath all of her sweetness and kindness she had a lot of spunk! All
of the grandchildren would agree that their fondest memories were spending time
with their Papa Paul and Grandma V!
Xvie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers
Eugene and Spencer, her adoring husband Paul and precious daughter Gwen.
She is survived by her sons, Randolph (Doreen) and Homer
(Debbie). Her grandchildren Brian
(Tracie) Smith, Eric (Gina) Smith, Lara (Erin) Luthy, Robert Wise, Richard
(Joy) Wise, Tyson (Janelle) Wise, Adam (Alla) Wise, Erin (Joe) Jackson, Carmen
(Michael) Hendrichs, Cody and Katie Wise.
Also blessed with fourteen great-grandchildren and her fifteenth great-
da
ughter due on Valentine’s Day.
The entire family would like to recognize the very
special care givers at Willow Park, Kingswood Assisted Living and Hearts for
Hospice who cared for her every day with great love, tenderness and
respect. We thank them deeply.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Saturday
January 21, 2012 at Alden Waggoner 5400 Fairview Avenue Boise, Idaho. A viewing
will be held in the chapel prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers; please make a
contribution in memory of Xvie to your favorite charity or organization.
